What I offer :

- A first-class professional teaching service in a relaxed learning environment.

- Years of experience, especially to Chinese speakers - so I know the particular problems you face.

- A reliable and punctual service. In all my years of teaching, I have NEVER been late for or missed a class.

- Techniques to quickly improve your English. I know what's good and what's not good.

- Techniques to get a better score in the exam.

- A location to study, if needed. My apartment in Yong He is five minutes from the Ding Xi MRT station . Many students come here and feel safe and comfortable. Coffee shops are noisy and an added expense.

- Qualifications: B.Sc. and TESOL.

- Recommendations from my ex students. I'll send you written recommendations and e-mail contacts if you need them.

- Materials.

- A free introductory "lesson". Before the first class we'll introduce ourselves for 10 to 15 minutes or so.

I am a professional teacher and teaching is my livelihood. And although I love doing it, it's still a job ! for which I need security. Recently I have been getting too many last-minute cancellations and requests for re-scheduled classes, which makes my job frustrating and difficult. I think you can expect the following from any other kind of business and service, especially cram schools.

What I need from you :

- Agree on a ten-lesson plan. Most students need at least this before taking the exam. Make a fixed schedule which we will keep to. Once a week is fine, or more frequent if time needs. More lessons after the initial 10 can easily be added.

- The first class will be 2 hours and 15 minutes (remember the free introduction mentioned above). But you only need to pay me for one class the first time we meet. You'll have time to think about whether or not you want to hire me.

- Payment in advance for the next five classes at the second class.

- Payment for the next group of four (or five if you need more) classes at the 6th class.

- Cancellations from the agreed schedule must be made one week in advance. If I can re-schedule the class I will. Canceled classes must be rescheduled (preferably before the next scheduled class) and can not moved to the end of the period.

- If you cancel any later than 48 hours before class, I probably won't be able to re-schedule the class and you-ll have to forfeit the tuition fee. But I will try my best to re-schedule it.

- If I turn up for a class and you don't, of course that class is gone.

- Missed classes cannot be carried over to the next period.

It might look like I'm being tough here, but if you think about it for a moment, you'll understand. How would you feel if you boss called you up the night before and told you he didn't need you the following day . . . and he wasn't going to pay you either! These things are good for you also. They will encourage you to keep studying and not to give up. We are creating a win win situation here.

Tuition Fee

- One student: Two hours $1800

- Two students: Two hours $2200 The reason for the higher rate is the correction of homework etc, which is doubled for 2 students -- but of course each student will actually be paying less as one person in a two-person class.

If you agree to a complete term of 15 straight classes, and pay in advance, I'll add on an extra free class at the end.

Of course we can continue at the end of the 10 classes in the same way by adding blocks of five classes.
