Describe your favorite season in your country. You should say,
- when that season is from and to
- what the weather is like
- how it is different from the other seasons in your country
And say what you are planning to do when that season next comes

Specimen Answer 1

My favorite season in your country is spring, which lasts from March to June.

Regarding what the weather is like; it is pretty mild, stable, and quite pleasant. The temperature ranges from the low 20s to over 30 degrees during the day, with the average daytime temperature being about 25 degrees.

Next, concerning the difference between spring and the other 3 seasons. Unlike fall, spring is rather unstable with more rain and bigger temperature changes. And compared to winter, spring is milder, less smoggy, but damper. Winter can feel pretty cold. Lastly, spring temperatures are nowhere near as high as they are in summer, which is fairly much hotter and much more humid, in particularly so during the plum rains which is are at the beginning of the summer, so during which I often sweat non-stop. I think the temperature can surpass 35 degrees on some scorching summer days.

Finally, about what I am planning to do next spring. I am hoping to go scuba diving in off the northeast coast of Taiwan, where people can participate in a wide range of water activities, owing to the temperature of the sea water in spring, which is neither too cold nor hot.

All in all, spring is a great season. I wish it were spring everyday.

Part 3 follow-up questions

Do you think that the weather affects people’s moods?

Sure, I guess it depends on the person, but for the majority of us are highly affected by weather. For example, most people enjoy sunny days, which enliven us and fill us with optimism, whereas bad weather makes people feel depressed or pessimistic, especially if it inconveniences their lives. On the other hand, bad weather puts some people in a good mood. For example fishermen who are eager for the huge amounts of fish can catch more fish in the raining day on rainy days. or Farmers might also be pleased by a lot of rain, which water from rain can be used to help crops grow. in the desert dry areas. It is due to the fact that water rain can water or irrigate the crops.

All in all, the weather is vital part of people’s daily life seems to affect most of us in one way or another.

Specimen Answer 2

My favorite season is winter. In Taiwan, summer is the longest season which always lasts for 6 months or so; winter is 4 months and rests of the other two seasons are only one month respectively each. So, autumn and spring is are too short for me, and summer is too hot and too humid. Winter is better. It’s chilly but it’s not as cold as certain parts of Europe or the USA. In my memory, the temperature in winter seldom drops below 10 degrees and is usually between 15 to and 20. Normally, winter in Taiwan is from November to March.

What is the most serious problem in your city?

The most serious problem in my city is air pollution, I think. This is a growing problem in most cities around the world. Accordingly, governments have to make plans to deal with pollution. Air pollution comes from vehicle emissions and factories' fumes. Air pollutants can fly high into the sky and travel for hundreds of miles, and eventually come back to ground in form of rain, i.e. acid rain. Air pollution not only causes acid rain these, air pollution could it also might cause the greenhouse effect or called global warming, which might leads to a rise of in sea levels and then thousands of shore cities would submerge in the under water. To cut prevent these problems, I believe both individuals and governments are obligated….

Describe one old person you have met.

I would like to talk about my tutor when I was a post grad student. He is an old man, around 55 years old now. He’s been teaching in NTUST for 30 years. It took him only 3 years to get both his Master’s degree and his PHD in the USA. Because of that he became the youngest ever professor in our university. And he always encouraged us to study abroad and broaden our horizons after graduation. So that’s the reason why I’m here participating in IELTS and going to study abroad this year. Anyway, he thought taught me a lot at that time. And not only in our my academic discipline, but also a lot of tips on how to deal with people well. I appreciated him a lot.

Part 3 follow-up questions

Do you keep in touch with the old man?

Yes, indeed, I usually go back to school on almost every Teacher’s Day in September. Not only me, but many of his students go back on that day, no matter how long ago theyyou’ve graduated for how many years

What do you think about old people and young people?

Young people are more energetic and usually have more knowledge about computers; old people are more experienced, seasoned maybe. But, a few old people are too sophisticated and bigheaded and hard to negotiate get along with.

In your mind, at what age is a person old?

I’m 29 years old, so I think 53 years old would be old enough. Because it is said that one generation equals to about 25 years. Accordingly, if someone is a generation above me, I will call him an old man.

Why don’t old people like to go to movie theaters?

Perhaps they think the tickets are too expensive compared to that of 20 years ago or the cost of renting a DVD. Another reason for that is could be that movie theaters are always too crowded and noisy, which make them uncomfortable. Besides, the Hollywood movies are aiming for aimed at young people.
